Licence plate sale sees 7,990 winners

A TOTAL of 7,990 people successfully bid for car licence plates yesterday in Shanghai’s first auction of 2015.
More than 98,200 people took part in the sale — the second to include previously owned plates — giving a nominal success rate of 8.1 percent. In the final auction of last year, 95,595 bidders competed for 7,400 plates. The lowest winning bid at yesterday’s sale was 74,000 yuan (US$11,920), while the average was 74,216 yuan.
