Lighting the way along the Huangpu

LANDSCAPE lights will illuminate 45 kilometers along the Huangpu riverside by 2020 and the city’s greenery authorities are soliciting opinions on the design, officials said yesterday.

Locals are being asked for suggestions and can email pjyj2017@163.com, the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau said yesterday.

All public space along the 45-kilometer bank of the Huangpu River will open by the end of this year, said Ding Qinhua, the director of the landscape light department of the bureau.

“The project is expected to take more than three years, or to the end of 2020, and the Huangpu River’s night view will take on a brand new and shining look then,” Ding said.

The 10 best suggestions will be awarded.

The 45 kilometers between the Yangpu and Xupu bridges will comprise a variety of cultural, historical and leisure venues based on the various local features.
