Local man charged with murder

A SHANGHAI man has been detained in neighboring Jiangsu Province and charged with murder, police in Yangzhou, where the suspect is being held, said yesterday.
The suspect, identified as a 40-something male surnamed Sha, is accused of killing a woman surnamed Zhang in Shanghai in February, and dumping her body in a drainage ditch beside the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway in Yangzhou’s Jiangdu District.
The victim’s mutilated body was discovered by a member of the public on March 1, police said, adding that it had been wrapped in a knitted-plastic bag.
Sha was detained after his vehicle was spotted by a surveillance camera close to the scene, police said.
