Local officials quizzed over graft scandal
FIVE officials from a village in the Pudong New Area and a local company executive are under investigation on suspicion of seeking to gain from a relocation project.
Lu Ming, head of Yongli in Caolu Town, and four unnamed colleagues, are accused of colluding with Feng Jianghua, general manager of Yiqian Commercial Consultation Co, on a project to relocate various buildings and features of the village.
The six are alleged to have claimed that a small pond in the area was a private fishing pool, whose removal and relocation merited financial compensation.
Disciplinary officials in Pudong have referred the case to the judicial authority.
Meanwhile, 11 senior officials in the village of Chenjiajiao in Huacao Town, Minhang District are also being investigated by the local disciplinary committee for alleged misconduct with regard to a relocation project.
The village’s ex-Party secretary, a former director of the relocation office and nine others are accused of misappropriating funds, abusing their power, and offering and accepting bribes.
