A NEW drug designed to be used in the treatment of lupus has been approved for clinical trials by the China Food and Drug Administration. The product, which was developed over more than a decade by a team from the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is based on sweet wormwood, a natural ingredient used in traditional Chinese medicine.
