Man, 75, arrested for raping kids

A 75-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested for raping two children, the Qingpu District People’s Procuratorate said yesterday.
The elderly widower, surnamed Hu, was a neighbor to the two victims in Qingpu District.
In December last year, when he was watching television at a neighbor’s house, he saw the two girls, aged 7 and 9, playing in front of the gate.
He lured them inside and molested them. He raped them the next day and warned them not to tell their parents. But the 7-year-old girl confided to her younger sister about the assault.
In March this year, the sister told the incident to her parents who then found out about the other victim. They immediately called the police.
Hu denied the rape initially saying that it was the two girls who asked him to “play” with them. Under the Chinese law, sex with children under 14 is considered rape.
