Man alerts neighbors of fire, gets burned
A 25-YEAR-OLD man was badly burned after he went knocking the doors of his neighbors when their residential building in Minhang District caught fire early yesterday.
The fire broke out around 1:45am in the 14th Building in No.3 Zhuxin Village, according to Shanghai Television. Wang Haibin, who lives on the fifth floor, knocked on the doors of 11 families to alert them of the fire.
With the stairs of the six-story building on fire, the neighbors remained indoor, but Wang fell down after he rushed to the first floor to open the locked iron security door.
The fire was put out soon after by firefighters. Wang’s mother said they slept with the door open so they were woken up by the smoke.
She said Wang rushed out to wake up the neighbors.
Wang was rushed to Ruijin Hospital and was diagnosed with 88 percent burns. He remained in critical condition, said the hospital.
