Man arrested for ‘killing ex-girlfriend’

A man has been arrested after confessing to police that he murdered his prostitute girlfriend, prosecutors in Songjiang District said yesterday.
According to prosecutors, the man, surnamed Shi, began a relationship with the victim, surnamed Xiang, two years ago. However, after Xiang turned to prostitution and began connecting with customers via the social networking website QQ in April, she turned cold on him and their relationship became hostile.
When Xiang refused to meet him to discuss their relationship, Shi pretended to be a customer via QQ and arranged to meet her at a local hotel on May 18.
Shi showed up with a knife and threatened Xiang. During an ensuing fight, Shi allegedly grabbed her throat and slashed it with the knife.
Regretting his actions, Shi called an ambulance and turned himself in to police.
