Man arrested for stabbing his love rival

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing another man who he believed was having an affair with his girlfriend, prosecutors in Putuo District said yesterday.
The accused, surnamed Chen, is alleged to have stabbed the unnamed victim after finding him playing computer games with his girlfriend, surnamed Yao, at a friend’s flat in December.
After attacking the man, Chen struck Yao with the handle of the knife and fled the scene, prosecutors said.
Friends of the injured man called an ambulance and he was taken to hospital, they said.
When Chen heard that his alleged victim had been taken to hospital he contacted his family and asked them to pay 30,000 yuan (US$4,800) to help cover his medical bills.
He later handed himself into police, prosecutors said.
