Man charged over biker sex assaults
A MAN has been charged in connection with a series of sexual assaults in which a motorcyclist groped young women walking alone at night.
Police in suburban Shanghai’s Qingpu District had received reports of a man wearing a baseball cap and riding a motorcycle following young women, then blocking their path and grabbing their breasts.
Since April, assaults were reported in the towns of Xujing, Zhaoxiang, Zhonggu and Fengxi in Qingpu.
In August 29, Qingpu police detained a man, surnamed Wang, at a residential complex in Zhaoxiang Town following an assault. Details were not released at the time.
According to police, Wang confessed that he had targeted young women walking home alone at night since March 2012 and carried out more than 20 assaults.
Wang is a married man and had a stable job, said police. Officers said he assaulted the women for excitement.
