Man charged with girlfriend murder

A 59-YEAR-OLD man alleged to have killed his 56-year-old girlfriend with a kitchen knife over affairs has been charged with murder, the Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate Prosecutors’ Office said yesterday.
Chen Yingji and the victim, surnamed Xu, met in a popular dating program in June last year. They started a cohabitation five months later after Chen underwent brain surgery and needed a carer. According to prosecutors, Chen thought Xu was spending too much and going out dancing too often. When Xu was going out on March 27, Chen hit her with a bench and used a knife to kill her, it is claimed. Chen handed himself in to police.
