Man charged with murdering his wife

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife in a dispute over where the couple should live, prosecutors in Songjiang District said yesterday.
The suspect, surnamed Lu, is alleged to have strangled the mother of his children after she suggested they return to their hometown in southwest China’s Sichuan Province for the good of their children’s education.
Lu was against the idea and became enraged when his wife, surnamed Yao, threatened to divorce him if he didn’t acquiesce, prosecutors said.
On January 12, during an argumen, Lu used a scarf to strangle Yao. He then called his brother and told him what he had done, they said.
The brother called an ambulance but Yao was pronounced dead in hospital.
Lu surrendered himself to police later the same day.
