Man gets detention for iPhone theft after one night stand
A MAN who stole a woman's iPhone after their one night stand was given six months' criminal detention with six-month probation and fined 1,000 yuan (US$159) for theft, Changning District People's Court said yesterday.
Prosecutors said the man, named Dong Liang, met the victim through Tencent's instant messaging tool Weixin last November. After chatting for some time, the pair decided to meet each other at a subway station on November 15.
Dong said they had some beer and went to a hotel after the woman agreed to have sex with him.
The next day, Dong woke up at about 5pm and told the sleeping woman he had to go to work. Before he left the room, Dong quietly took the woman's iPhone worth 4,559 yuan that was beside the pillow, the court heard.
The woman reported the theft to the police after she had woken up and found her cellphone was missing. Two hours later, Dong was caught at his home, the court said.
