Man gets suspended sentence

A man who killed his wife after reversing over her in his truck has been sentenced to two years in prison with a three-year reprieve, Songjiang District People’s Court said yesterday.
The man, surnamed Jiang, was found guilty of manslaughter, the court said.
The incident happened as Jiang was about to drive away from the family home in Chedun, Songjiang. The couple had earlier been arguing and Jiang’s wife, surnamed Xiao, ran behind the truck in a bid to stop her husband driving away, the court said.
Jiang, however, did not see his wife and despite the efforts of her brother to alert him to the danger, he reversed over her.
An ambulance was called but medics were unable to save Xiao.
