Man held after killing woman, daughter

A MAN who killed his girlfriend and her daughter has confessed to the crime, Pudong New Area police said yesterday.
Pudong police said they received a report from the woman’s other daughter at 2:07pm on Sunday, saying her mother and younger sister were seriously injured after being attacked.
The medics confirmed that both of them were dead. The suspect was captured by police five hours later after he failed in his bid to commit suicide.
The 47-year-old suspect, surnamed Xu, had been living with the woman, surnamed Liu, for more than 10 years in the residential complex in Cailu Town, the Pudong New Area.
After attacking Liu and her daughter at their home, he left and tried to commit suicide by jumping into a river at 7:30pm. But, he was saved by others and rushed to the hospital.
He confessed to the murders after being detained by police.
