Man held for false alarms

A MAN has been detained for allegedly spreading false information on terrorism, local police said yesterday.

The suspect called the police twice this month saying detonators were planted at an Auchan supermarket. The police cordoned the area and dispatched 80 officers to search the explosives.

The four-hour cordon caused the supermarket to lose at least 500,000 yuan (US$73,200), police said.
