Man held for stealing pigeons

A MAN was arrested on suspicion of stealing pigeons from others after he lost a few of his own, police in Xuhui District said yesterday.
The stolen carrier pigeons cost between 5,000 (US$774) and 6,000 yuan each. Police said the suspect, surnamed Jin and the victim surnamed Xu, had a common interest in raising carrier pigeons. Jin bought some pigeons and tried to train them but did not have much luck as they flew away.
Jin then broke into Xu’s dovecote and stole two pigeons. After watching the surveillance camera, Xu identified the suspect as his friend Jin after which police arrested him.
