Man held over knife attack on daughter

A MAN has been charged with the attempted murder of his 2-year-old daughter after allegedly attacking her with a knife and then turning the weapon on himself, prosecutors in Songjiang District said yesterday.
The suspect, Sheng Fei, is accused of stabbing the child last month after his wife threatened to leave him.
The daughter survived the assault but is still recovering in hospital.
Sheng’s wife threatened to leave him after the couple argued over her lending money to a third party without his knowledge.
After begging her not to leave, Sheng threatened to kill himself, but not until he had taken the life of the couple’s infant daughter, prosecutors said.
He then attacked the child before stabbing himself three times in the stomach.
