Man hurt in knife attack in Minhang
A MAN in Minhang District was detained after allegedly slashing another man with a kitchen knife, said police yesterday, adding that the suspect was undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
The victim, who was rescued by two security guards after suffering head injuries, is being treated in hospital, said police.
The attacker was walking along Hangbei Road in Minhang on Sunday morning when he suddenly took out a kitchen knife he had concealed in a towel he was carrying and attacked the man with it, according to Shanghai TV.
The victim then ran into a nearby residential security guardhouse and the two guards inside rushed out to stop the attacker.
The two guards struggled to restrain the man, eventually driving him away from the scene. He was later arrested by police.
