Man jailed for bomb threat
A 41-YEAR-OLD man who threatened to detonate a bomb on Metro Line 2 was sentenced to one and a half year in prison, Zhabei District People’s Court said yesterday.
Prosecutors said the man, surnamed Yang, had a grudge against the metro company after he fell down the stairs at the Century Avenue Metro Station last February and was injured. He was reportedly drunk at that time.
He called police twice on August 10 and told them his colleague, who was also injured after falling down at a Metro station would carry out a blast on Metro Line 2.
Police dispatched 120 officers to patrol all the Metro stations. Yang was caught two days later after trying to make another call.
Metro said Yang was sent to the hospital and his medical bill taken care off. He was also compensated but he was not happy with the amount.
