Man killed by bottle thrown from apartment window

AN elderly man was killed last month after being hit on the head by a bottle thrown from an apartment window, police said yesterday.
The 85-year-old, surnamed Wang, was playing cards with his friends in Gongnong Park in Yangpu District on April 19, when he was struck by the bottle thrown by a man called Wu, police said. Wang died the following day in hospital, the Shanghai Morning Post reported yesterday. Following an investigation, Wu was detained at his apartment in Putuo District on April 28, the report said. Wu, who was at his father-in-law’s home at the time of the incident, said he threw the bottle after an argument with his wife, but had not intended to hurt anybody.
