Man kills nurse after botched robbery attempt outside her apartment in Minhang

A local woman, believed to be a nurse, was robbed and killed outside an apartment building in Minhang District in the wee hours on Wednesday, police said today.
A suspect, surnamed Ding, 27, was caught at around 10pm on the same day itself after police combed through security footages on the street and traced him to a nearby Internet cafe.
Ding, a native of central China’s Hubei Province, worked for a restaurant but was hard up for money as he had squandered them on video games and gambling. At around 2am on Wednesday, he climbed over the walls, entered a residential complex and robbed and killed the victim.
Police refused to identify the victim. But local media said the woman, aged 39, was a nurse at Zhongshan Hospital. She was returning after finishing her night shift when the alleged incident happened.
