Man stabs brothers as they sleep

A MAN in Putuo District has been detained for stabbing his two roommates in their sleep, police said yesterday.
The suspect, surnamed Zhang, shared an apartment on Langao Road with one of the victims, surnamed Liu.
The second victim was Liu’s unnamed younger brother, who was lodging at the flat over the summer holidays.
Shortly after midnight yesterday, Zhang stabbed the younger brother in the head and arm with a knife as he slept. Terrified by the attack, the victim ran out on to the street screaming for help.
In the meantime, Zhang attacked Liu, who awoke and began fighting back. He also suffered wounds to his head and arms.
Police arrived at 12:40am and subdued Zhang, though he remained uncooperative even after being taken into custody, they said.
Police are investigating.
