Man ‘stole phone next to officer’
A THIEF who stole a mobile phone while next to a policeman has been sentenced to four months’ detention and fined 1,000 yuan (US$146), prosecutors of Hongkou District said.
The offense occurred on June 6 on the intersection of Xinjian Road and Zhoujiazui Road when the officer was dealing with a traffic offense.
A passer-by surnamed Sha said he saw the thief surnamed Ma grab a mobile phone through the open window of a parked car when the driver was standing with the policeman checking his license.
“Everyone at the scene gathered around the police to see what was going on, at which point the thief took the mobile phone from the seat,” Sha said. Ma said later he acted on impulse.
