Man takes it out on ATM

A teenager suspected of setting an ATM on fire and then urinating on it to try to put out the fire has been put under criminal detention, police said.
The ATM belongs to a bank on Guen Road in the Pudong New Area. Surveillance cameras allegedly showed that at about 1am on May 6, the suspect, a male 19-year-old surnamed Li, vandalizing the ATM and then setting it alight. However, as the fire spread, police said Li panicked and tried to put it out.
“I was fired. As I don’t have money, I want make others unable to withdraw their money,” Li allegedly told police.
