Man ‘tried to bribe us,’ police say
A man tried to bribe the police with 100,000 yuan (US$16,000) in cash in order to get away from being punished for taking drugs last week, Shanghai police said yesterday.
The man surnamed Huang, who is from Wenzhou in east China’s Zhejiang Province, has been taken to a rehabilitation center.
Huang was found to be carrying some methamphetamine at Hongqiao Railway Station, and a urine test confirmed he was on drugs, police claimed.
When questioned, Huang took some cash out of his bag and offered it to the police, they claimed.
Huang later confessed to taking drugs the previous evening in a bar in Shanghai, they said.
He also said his friends gave him some drugs for him to take on his way home, they claimed.
