Man who passed out at Hongqiao station helped out by police, passengers
A man who passed out in a public toilet at Hongqiao Railway Station on Monday was saved by policemen and passengers, eastday.com reported yesterday.
Informed by a sanitation worker, police stationed at the station found a man lying face upward in a toilet stall, still breathing but without consciousness.
The police did an initial inspection and ruled out the possibility of him being attacked. They also found a cigarette butt, a lighter and a pack of cigarettes beside him.
Two passengers with paramedic skills volunteered to help out on hearing a call for medical support from the station broadcast. They conducted a preliminary diagnosis on him and concluded that a temporary drop in blood supply due to smoke in the enclosed space and then suddenly standing up, may have caused him to faint.
About 15 minutes later, an ambulance arrived just when the man was about to regain consciousness.
