A man has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for threatening to blow up a Metro station, Shanghai Law Journal reported yesterday.
On April 14, the man, surnamed Wang, posted a note around noon on Tencent Weibo, threatening to carry out a blast at a Metro Line 7 station. Around 1pm, he called the Metro operator Shentong and told them he would strike at Meilan Lake Metro station.
Police were immediately informed and Wang was caught at 9pm the same day from his home.
He confessed he wanted to vent his fury because he had just broken up with his girlfriend.
