Man wins 26.56 million yuan in lottery
A LOTTERY ticket buyer has won a 26.56 million yuan (US$3.9 million), the ticket seller confirmed today.
The winner bought the lottery tickets from an outlet on Hongmei Road of Changning District for more than three years, Shanghai Evening Post reported.
He is a businessman from Taiwan, according to his dialect, the seller surnamed Heng said.
"I bought the tickets for him in advance," Heng was quoted as saying. She said the man is on a business trip and will pay her after he gets back next weekend.
As a frequent customer, Heng said the man always told her the numbers he wanted to buy and paid for the tickets later. But he must know the good news as he always checks the winning numbers online, according to Heng.
She said the man bought lottery tickets almost every day. "He spends 100 to 200 yuan every time, not like other Taiwanese, who buy 2,000 to 3,000 yuan of tickets everyday." The winning numbers were announced on Tuesday night. The public guessed the winner of the first and second prize may be the same person as the tickets were sold at the same outlet within several seconds.
The man hasn't claimed the prize yet. Winners have 60 days to claim their prizes.
