NEARLY 600 individuals will be awarded the city’s May 1 Labor Medal, said the city’s trade union. About 30 percent are female employees, up 10 percent over last year; some 64 percent have a university degree or above, and nearly 70 percent are grassroots workers and technicians. The equivalent award for working groups, Shanghai May 1 Labor Certificate, will be awarded to 177 companies and institutions. The trade union will also launch a mobile application today to invite workers who are not represented by a labor union to join.
