Migrants want to stay
MORE than 40 percent of migrant workers in Shanghai hope to remain in the city on a permanent basis, according to the results of a survey released yesterday by the Shanghai Statistics Bureau.
In the poll of 340 people, 40 percent said they wanted to stay so that they could benefit from the local social insurance policy and so that their children could go to a good school.
A further 35 percent said they wanted to go home to enjoy a slower pace of life in retirement, while the rest said they planned to settle down in other cities, according to the survey.
