THE minimum monthly salary in Shanghai will rise to 2,300 yuan (US$335) from the current 2,190 yuan starting next month, the city’s human resources and social security bureau said yesterday.

The minimum hourly wage rises to 20 yuan from 19 yuan, and this applies to both part-time and full-time workers.

The monthly unemployment insurance payment also rises in April, to a maximum 1,660 yuan for the first 12 months, up from 1,520 yuan, and 80 percent of the amount for the next 12 months.

Allowances to young jobless people on internships will also be raised.
