A MENTALLY-retarded woman who tried to kill her son because she feared that he would be left alone after she died has been sentenced to three years’ jail by the Jinshan District People’s Court.
In March, the mother surnamed Chen, 63, hit her son, surnamed Xu, on the head with a hammer as he slept. He survived, with minor injuries to his head and face.
