More trains to ease auto show congestion
METRO Line 2 will increase traffic capacity during rush hours on weekdays and all day at the weekend for this week’s automobile exhibition, the city’s transportation commission said yesterday.
Auto Shanghai 2017, or the 17th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, opens tomorrow at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in suburban Qingpu District. A surge in traffic is forecast during the 9-day exhibition.
To help to ease the congestion, there will be more Metro trains, and the Metro operator will also introduce traffic control at East Xujing Station of Line 2 to coincide with the exhibition closing.
Four shuttle bus routes will be available to pick up passengers from the exhibition center’s two parking lots to four transportation hubs — Hongqiao Railway Station on Metro lines 2 and 10, Jinyun Road Station on Line 13, Zhongchun Road Station on Line 9, and Shenkun Road Station for the 71 bus. The shuttle buses will operate from 3pm to 7:30pm.
There will be a further three short-distance shuttle bus routes to ferry passengers between the exhibition center and temporary parking lots nearby.
