Mother detained after son’s fingers cut off

A mother has been detained for cutting off three of her son’s fingers with a kitchen knife on Friday, Qingpu District police said.

The injured 8-year-old boy was sent to a hospital quickly after police in the district received the emergency call. Doctors were unable to save the boy’s fingers.

Police said the woman cut off her son’s fingers after an argument over a trivial matter with her husband.
