Murder ruled out in school death

POLICE have ruled out murder in the death of a 7-year-old boy at a school in the Pudong New Area.
The boy, surnamed Han, fell to his death from the window of the library at Shanghai Fushan Zhengda Foreign Language Primary School last Wednesday afternoon.
Police received a report shortly before 5pm and the boy was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation at the scene found his death was caused by a high-altitude fall and ruled out the possibility of murder, police said.
Sun Xuewen, headmaster of the school, told Shanghai Daily yesterday it had reached an accommodation with the boy’s family but refused to provide details.
He also said students and teachers were undergoing safety training to prevent such incidents in future, adding that he was considering having bars installed in the school’s windows to improve safety.
