Museum to bring nature to life
WONDERS of the natural world will be brought to life by state-of-the-art light and sound technology at the new Shanghai Museum of Natural History.
Officials said the attraction, set to open next year in Jing’an District, will offer a new museum experience to visitors more used to viewing stuffed specimens in a hushed environment.
“Thanks to digital technology, we are able to build a ‘live’ museum instead of a traditional one,” said Wang Xiaoming, director of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, which will manage the new natural history museum.
The building is also part of the display, with a multimedia light show to take place on the exterior each night.
“The details of this show are still under discussion,” said Wang, speaking at the Shanghai Culture and Technology Development Forum yesterday.
