Music to the ears of 2 gangs

THE city’s Metro police have busted two gangs robbing passengers wearing earphones.
After nearly a month’s investigation, police said they had caught nine suspects from the two gangs on May 24. The gangs were operating in Shanghai Railway Station and People’s Square Metro station.
Victims were mainly passengers listening to music in the Metro stations, said police, adding that the earphone cables served like “guides” for the thieves to locate the phones in bags or pockets. Police said their action had solved more than 10 cases, involving stolen products worth more than 100,000 yuan (US$14,700).
