Nanny arrested after employer killed

A NANNY has been arrested in connection with the death of her employer in a knife attack, Minhang District prosecutors said yesterday.

Prosecutors claimed that the nanny, surnamed Feng, attacked her victim, surnamed Zhou, following disputes that included complaints about coughing at the dinner table.

It is claimed that Zhou threatened Feng with a knife which the nanny grabbed and used to slash her employer’s throat.

Local news website eastday.com reported that Zhou was a former trading company executive who was married to a German and the mother of a 5-year-old girl.

Prosecutors said police in Minhang District received a report at noon on September 25 that two women were fighting in a flat.

When officers arrived at the scene, Zhou was found lying on the ground bleeding heavily from her neck. Medics confirmed that she was dead.

Feng was sitting by the body with a knife in her hand, said prosecutors. Police said Feng had only come to work for Zhou three days earlier.

Feng told prosecutors that she and Zhou had clashed several times. The nanny complained to Zhou about Zhou’s coughing at the dinner table, prosecutors said.

When Feng later heard Zhou complaining about her in a call to a friend, she confronted her employer, prosecutors said.

Zhou decided to fire Feng and the pair argued about her pay, which ended with Zhou’s death, according to prosecutors.
