New center unveiled for brain research, AI
SHANGHAI has set up a research center on brain science and brain-inspired intelligence at the Zhangjiang National Lab yesterday with the aim of integrating related resources from institutes such as Chinese Academy of Sciences and universities.
Brain science explores the secrets of the brain to find solutions to brain diseases while the research on brain-inspired intelligence is related to the establishment and development of artificial intelligence.
Both of them are a hot topic in the field of science and technology. Shanghai is one of the places in China with the strength and advantages in the field.
Bai Chunli, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said at the unveiling ceremony yesterday that the center would consolidate China’s international status in the field of science and technology.
He said he hoped the center would take the lead on innovative researches and achieve world-class results, and support the city’s effort in becoming a base for scientific achievements.
