New test can detect swill oil
SHANGHAI Food and Drug Administration said yesterday that it has developed a testing technology to differentiate swill oil from cooking oil and will put it into practice soon for monitoring soon.
Local authorities said spot checks of cooking oil sold and used in Shanghai markets have turned up no major problems in the last two years. Shanghai FDA urges local residents to call its hotline 962727 if detecting restaurants using swill oil.
