Night train gets longer
THE high-speed night train running from Shanghai to Beijing has been such a hit with passengers that extra cars have been added to meet increasing demand since its launch on May 15, the city’s railway bureau said yesterday.
In the first week, the G8 night train service has become one of the most popular running between Shanghai and Beijing, with 96 percent of seats occupied on average. To meet the increasing demand, the bureau this week doubled its capacity to 1,112 seats. The new night service leaves the city’s Hongqiao Railway Station at 7pm.
