No change in bus fares

Shanghai citizens, on an average, spent around 1,700 yuan (US$277.8) annually on public buses last year — about 3 percent of their total income, the Shanghai Transport and Port Administration said yesterday.
The fares for the public buses have not been adjusted in nearly a decade. Commuters spent about 1.91 yuan on average for a ride last year. This was not inclusive of the free rides for senior citizens. Authorities said they had no plans to raise the fares immediately.
