No problem found with formula milk
Shanghai's imported food watchdog said yesterday that it has not discovered any quality issues with an Abbott infant formula milk sold on the domestic market, after a report by a Hong Kong-based research firm last weekend questioned its quality.
The CER Research report said that a sample of Abbott Similac Stage 1 formula for babies younger than six months purchased from a Hong Kong store failed to meet the Chinese mainland protein standard for formula products. Abbott China hit back by calling the report "utterly and deliberately misleading" and threatened legal action. The Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau said yesterday that none of the Abbott Similac Stage 1 batches imported to the mainland failed domestic standards tests.
