No problems in handling of donations
A THIRD-PARTY auditing firm yesterday claimed it has found "no mishandling" in the distribution of donations to the Jiaozhou Road high-rise inferno victims.
The auditing firm, Shanghai Zhonghua Certified Public Accountants Co, has been assigned by the Shanghai Charity Foundation and the Jiangning Road Street Neighborhood Office under the Jing'an District Government to audit the distribution of donations after some blaze victims claimed they "went missing."
The firm said in the auditing result that it did not find any cheating, abusing, concealing or any other wrongdoing in the distribution of the donations. The firm said the foundation will publish an annual auditing report to show further details of how the money was distributed.
Earlier, there had been accusations that many of the donations collected after the fire had gone missing.
The fire killed 58 people and injured 71 others in November 2010.
