Office workers delay meals
MANY of Shanghai’s white-collar employees are going hungry due to workplace pressures, according to the results of a survey conducted by one local hospital.
Of 1,789 office workers polled by the Shanghai International Medical Center, over 84 percent said they “usually” eat lunch or dinner at irregular times due to busy work days. Of respondents working in Lujiazui, about 60 percent said they are unable to keep a regular meal schedule.
The medical center, which hosted a health lecture for office workers yesterday in Lujiazui, also found that about 73 percent of polled women said they are on a diet to control their weight. Among males, 41.5 percent reported being on a diet. Some 59 percent said they consider skipping lunch or dinner as a dieting tactic.
