Officials censured over frugality rules
SEVERAL local officials in Shanghai were punished for violations of frugality rules by the city’s discipline watchdog yesterday.
Among them were officials of Minhang District State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Songjiang District Market Supervision Administration and Shanghai Ocean University.
Three officials of Minhang SASAC — former budget review department director Li Xiaoyan, former enterprise development department director Shen Jiaqing and office secretary Cao Gang — have been penalized for accepting a shopping card worth 2,000 yuan (US$304) each from a property company owner during the Spring Festival last year.
The trio have been ordered to return their illegal earnings.
Shen Chaojun, director of the food production supervision department of Songjiang Market Supervision Administration, was reprimanded for receiving cash and shopping cards worth 6,000 yuan from local enterprises.
Former Shanghai Ocean University President Pan Yingjie and Deputy Party Secretary Wu Jiamin were warned for organizing a seven-day cruise abroad in July 2013 with public funds under the name of study and communication.
Fang Hui, general manager of Bihaijinsha Investment and Development Company in Fengxian District, was admonished for organizing banquet with public funds and giving out subsidies illegally to company members in 2014.
