Officials demolish illegal shops built under highway

SHOPS and warehouses erected illegally in 22 arches under the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway near Fengzhuang Road in Jiading District were demolished yesterday, while their tenants had already moved out.
The road affairs bureau said it earlier cleared 67 arches under the same highway. A total of 550 bridge arches were cleared last year, while a target of 800 has been set for this year.
