Officials target abortion clinics
LOCAL health officials said yesterday they have launched a “crackdown” on medical facilities, legal or otherwise, that provide abortions for non-medical purposes, surrogacy services or prenatal gender checks.
The unnamed officials did not say what form the crackdown would take.
They said only that medical facilities and staff will be “checked” and that any that are found to have broken the law will be punished. Websites and media that promote such illegal practices will also face punishment, they said.
The campaign was launched as part of a nationwide scheme initiated recently by the National Health and Family Planning Commission.
