Online shoppers lack holiday spirit
THE number of complaints made by consumers over the May Day holiday rose sharply from last year, the Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau said yesterday.
Over the three-day break, officials received 237 complaints, or 12 percent more than for the same period of 2013, it said. The most common cause for concern was online shopping, which accounted for 77 of the gripes, up 13 percent from last year.
The rise in complaints about Internet shopping was due to the revised consumer rights law, the bureau said.
Tourism was another area for complaint, with 15 people unhappy about badly arranged trips, and catering and accommodation facilities, it said.
